Ashutosh, a senior Aam Aadmi Party member who resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party citing personal reason has attacked Delhi Chief Minister. The tweet came after another member Atishi Marlena was asked to drop her surname as it did not sound Indian and would be tough for her to garner vote. Her parents gave her surname arising from two famous personalities Marx and Lenin.
In a recent tweet Aushutosh claims that, in his career of 23 years no one ever asked his caste or surname but was forced to mention his surname in 2014 while being introduced to party workers as Lok Sabha candidate in 2014.
In 23 years of my journalism, no one asked my caste, surname. Was known by my name. But as I was introduced to party workers as LOKSABHA candidate in 2014 my surname was promptly mentioned despite my protest. Later I was told – सर आप जीतोगे कैसे, आपकी जाति के यहाँ काफी वोट हैं ।

Before the tweet Ashutosh was citing personal reasons for his resignation. But the tweet has added fuel to the spark. There were speculations that Ashutosh was not happy from party supremo Arvind Kejriwal. Now the tweet has made it clear that all was not right within the party and among the party members.
Also it has made clear that the party that claims to be different isn’t actually different. Atishi not using her surname and Ashutosh tweeting about his surname has made it quite clear that Aam Aadmi Party is nowhere different from other parties. Using caste politics has been a trend and Arvind Kejriwal is using the same method to garner support.
I t has been 4 year since the formation of Aam Aadmi Party and 4 of it’s prime members have left the party or have been terminated due to certain reason. The names are quite big and filling the void is not going to be easy for the party. This is definitely going to hurt theri chances in the upcoming elections. Also parties like Congress and BJP would not leave an opportunity like this. The Aam Aadmi Party themselves have given a strong point to the political parties.
